Abwaab, MENA’s smart online learning platform, today announces that it has nabbed the coveted 1st place spot after competing against 200 startups across the globe at the 2020 GSV Cup , an elite global competition for early-stage edtech startups. The annual competition, which is hosted by GSV Ventures and Arizona State University at the ASU GSV Summit, received more than 500 applications this year. After undergoing a rigorous judging process, Abwaab first made it to the Elite 200 list and then was shortlisted to the Top 3 by a group of esteemed VC judges. On the last day of the summit, the Jordanian-based startup was voted Top 1 by a live audience, winning $150k in cash and $75k in Google Cloud Credit.
“We are so honored and humbled to receive this award,” said Hamdi Tabbaa, Co-Founder & CEO, Abwaab. “We would like to thank each and every person who voted for us. As the first and only startup from the Middle East to be a contender at this competition, winning 1st place makes this moment so much more special for us. We’re more excited than ever to deliver on our mission of making high-quality education accessible and affordable to each and every student in our region.”
